Training Tomorrows Professionals

The Department of Juvenile Services serves as a training site for potential professionals from multi-disciplinary backgrounds.  Qualified intern or practicum students from local universities train in the fields of Counseling, Social Work, Sociology, Forensic Psychology, Criminal Justice, and other related disciplines.  Juvenile Services is a primary choice for future professionals to learn about the field of juvenile justice.

Helping The Young People Of Jefferson Parish

The Department has a variety of volunteer opportunities for qualified adults that are interested in becoming a mentor or tutor to the youth that we serve. Whether you would prefer working directly with a child or working behind the scenes, donating as little as one hour a week of your time could help to change the life of a Jefferson Parish youth. Mentor training and ongoing supervision are provided.

Community Service Opportunities

College students interested in earning required Community Service Hours, while making a meaningful contribution in the life of a child, may apply for marketing, secretarial, tutoring or mentoring opportunities.
