Five Most Frequently Asked Questions: Answers
1.
Where does Sewerage Department responsibility begin?
Answer: Parish is
responsible for service beginning at the 6" clean out which is usually
located near the sidewalk area on the house side. Back
2.
When should I call a plumber?
Answer: Rule of thumb -
Parish is only responsible when piping is on public property. All residents
should know and have exposed the 6" sewer clean out located near the
sidewalk. If you are having problems with sewerage draining
you should open
the 6" clean out and if there is no water in the 6" clean out
then
the restriction would be located on private property side of the clean out and a
plumber should be called. If sewer water can be seen or if the clean out
overflows with wastewater
then you should call the Department of Sewerage
Complaint Line.

3.
How long should I have to wait when I call in a stoppage
complaint?
Answer: Stoppage crews are available from 6 a.m. till 11:00 p.m. Actual response time depends on the number of stoppages received at that particular time and the distance between the location of the washout truck and the complaint.
