 1. How do I get information on property such as lot and block designation,

zoning, subdividing or what I can do with it?

The Jefferson Parish Planning Department handles requests for legal descriptions (lot and block or lot and square) information for the unincorporated areas of the Parish. For municipal questions refer to Cities above.  Property information is available on Jeffparish.net at www.jeffparish.net/index.cfm?DocID=2393.  Our office located at 1221 Elmwood Park Blvd. Suite 601 Jefferson, LA 70123 can assist you if you have trouble.  Call 504-736-6320 for assistance.  To verify zoning of property you must come to our offices in person or request the information in writing either by mail or fax (Fax #: 504-731-4560).  Department policy prohibits this information from being given out over the telephone.

Once you have determined the location of your property the Planning Department staff can assist you with applications to subdivide or combine lots, change the zoning, or apply for special permitted uses.  To determine what uses are permitted on your property under Parish Ordinance the Inspection & Code Enforcement Department located in the same building will interpret the zoning ordinance upon request.
