Aaron F. Broussard was born in 1949 in Marksville,
Louisiana and moved to Kenner in 1958, and
continues to reside there.

- 1966 - 1968. Leadsinger and tambourine player of own
rock-and-roll band "Me and the Other Guys"

EXPERIENCE AS JEFFERSON PARISH ELECTED OFFICIAL:
1974 Elected to the Jefferson Parish School Board at the age of
24; served as vice-President
1976 Re-elected to the Jefferson Parish School Board by 92
percent of the vote.
1977 Elected to the Jefferson Parish Council
1981 Re-elected to the Jefferson Parish Council While
Councilman he received the "Man of the Year" award by the
Alliance for Good Government and recognition from the National
Association of Counties for his projects on soil subsidence and
gas explosions.
1982 Elected Mayor of the City of Kenner
As mayor of Kenner, Louisiana's fifth largest city, he
requested assistance from UNO to restructure the city
government. Within one year, 100 percent of the
recommendations were implemented.
1983 Rivertown, a collection of family-oriented museums was
established under Mayor Broussard's administration. Rivertown
is located in historic Kenner, and was designed to revitalize the
deteriorating neighborhood. The museum complex, which
includes Jefferson Parish's only repertory theater, received
numerous awards and continues to grow.
1985 Mayor Broussard provided the assistance and welcome that
led to the development of the Esplanade Mall, one of the State's
most successful shopping areas and a financial base for the City
of Kenner.
1986 Re-elected Mayor of the City of Kenner by 91 percent of
the vote.
1990 Re-elected Mayor of the City of Kenner
1991 Mayor Broussard was the driving force in building the
Pontchartrain Center, which opened in 1991. The Pontchartrain
Center has over 34,000 square feet, and with the new addition
will have 46,000 square feet. It is an all-purpose center where
conventions, sporting events, trade shows, graduations, Mardi
Gras balls, etc. are held.
1994 - Re-elected Mayor of the City of Kenner unopposed.
During his fourth mayoral term, he served as the President of the
Louisiana Conference of Mayors, and was recognized by the U.
S. Conference of Mayors for his distinguished leadership in
culture, arts and civic programs when his City received the
"Livability Award." He was a United States Presidential
appointee for Tourism.
1995 Elected Chairman of the Jefferson Parish Council by 81
percent of the vote. As Chairman of the Jefferson Parish Council,
Louisiana's second largest parish, his first major project was
JEFF 2000, two two-day conventions to set priorities for the
future of Jefferson. The priorities established by JEFF 2000
continue to focus and lead the resources and future planning for
the Parish of Jefferson.
1996 Chairman Broussard was instrumental in establishing the
Jefferson Office of Tourism and Tourism Advisory Board. The
formation of this office and board will help Jefferson Parish
recognize the financial impact of the tourism industry for many
years to come.
1997 Final plans on a long awaited project, the Lafreniere Park
Carousel, began under the leadership of Chairman Broussard's
Carousel Committee.

Mr. Broussard is very active in his community and state. Pie has
