ANIMAL SHELTER RULE TO SPEED UP PET ADOPTIONS Stray animals in the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter may be adopted sooner, with the recent amendment to Chapter 7, Sections 47 and 50, of the Jefferson Parish Code of Ordinances, which reduces the mandatory holding period for stray animals.
CAUSEWAY BOULEVARD LANE CLOSURES Beginning today at 9 a.m. and ending on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 4 p.m. the Causeway Boulevard and Airline Drive Interchange will experience periodic lane closures to replace the existing light poles which are in a state of deterioration.

RED LIGHT CAMERA ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM SUSPENDED Today the Jefferson Parish Council passed an emergency ordinance to suspend enforcement of the Red Light Camera Safety Program under Article XI of Chapter 36 of the Jefferson Parish Code of Ordinances, Sections 36-307 through 36-314, entitled Automated Traffic Signal Enforcement.
JEFFERSON PARISH TO WAIVE PERMIT FEES FOR CHINESE DRYWALL Resolution No. 113773, adopted by the Jefferson Parish Council on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, states that the Jefferson Parish Department of Inspection and Code Enforcement will waive all fees for inspections and permits needed by property owners to identify and to correct problems caused by the installation of defective Chinese drywall on their properties.

FRIGID TEMPERATURES CAUSED WATER PIPE LEAKS THROUGHOUT PARISH Jefferson Parish experienced 52 water main breaks this past weekend due to the effects of below freezing temperatures on several continuous days. Forty-seven of the 52 have been repaired. As the breaks occur, citizens may experience low or no water pressure.
