"Grand Isle Alive"
Kicks-off Thursday, April 2

In an effort to boost economic development in Grand Isle and to let everyone know that the town is open for business, parish and town officials and business leaders will kick off "Grand Isle Alive" with a luncheon meeting on the island on Thursday, April 2, at noon.

The meeting will be held at Artie's Sports Bar, 3162 Highway 1 in Grand Isle. It will bring together the sponsors of "Grand Isle Alive" including the Grand Isle Tarpon Rodeo Committee, elected leadership of Jefferson Parish and the Town of Grand Isle, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, and the Jefferson Convention and Visitors Bureau as well as business owners in Grand Isle.

The main purpose of "Grand Isle Alive" is to boost the island's main industry, tourism, following last year's active hurricane season and to get the word out that the town is open for business and welcoming visitors and residents alike.

In a letter to Grand Isle business owners, Parish President Aaron Broussard and Parish Councilman Chris Roberts said, "One of the purposes of this luncheon is to hear your concerns as business owners of how you have been personally affected by the devastation of the storms and how you feel we can help with the re-building process."

Representatives of the news media are welcome to attend and are asked to RSVP their attendance by Wednesday, March 25, by calling Angela Pacaccio in the Parish Presidents' Office at 736-6418 or Chastity Chaisson in Councilman Roberts' office at 364-2607.

For more information contact Jefferson Parish Councilman Chris Roberts, whose district includes Grand Isle, at 364-2607.
