The Lafreniere Sub Area Plan is a planning initiative sponsored by Jefferson Parish District 4 Councilman Dominick lmpastato with support from the Jefferson Parish Planning Department and assembled by the consultant team of Digital Engineering, Asakura Robinson, and Peperone-Pitre. On November 6, 2019, the Parish Council adopted the Lafreniere Subarea Plan into Envision Jefferson 2040 Comprehensive Plan.
The plan outlined several policy recommendations, implementation strategies, and actions. A main focus of the plan is to evaluate the existing land use and zoning in the area, including signage, and recommend proposed changes.
Plan Update & Implementation
Since May 2020, consultant N-Y Associates has been working on specific zoning changes to the areas surrounding Lafreniere Park. The firm has performed analysis on zoning, land use, and signage, and working with an appointed citizen Task Force, has prepared recommendations for implementation.
Planning Advisory Board Public Hearing
The proposed amendments will be considered at the Planning Advisory Board public hearing on June 24th, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers (2nd Floor), Joseph S. Yenni Building, 1221 Elmwood Park Blvd., Jefferson, Louisiana 70123. The Planning Advisory Board will vote on a recommendation to the Parish Council, who will take final action on the items.
