Plan Update & Implementation

In summer of 2020, consultants N-Y Associates began working on a study on the implementation of the Lafreniere Sub Area Plan, including preparing amendments to the zoning map and zoning text to effectuate the recommended strategies of the sub area plan. The firm performed an analysis on zoning, land use, and signage, and working with an appointed citizen Task Force, prepared recommendations for implementation.

The amendments to the plan and associated text & map amendments were overwhelmingly approved by the Planning Advisory Board and the Jefferson Parish Council in June of 2021.

Planning Advisory Board (PAB) Public Hearing

The proposed amendments were considered at the Planning Advisory Board public hearing on June 24th, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers (2nd Floor), Joseph S. Yenni Building, 1221 Elmwood Park Blvd., Jefferson, Louisiana 70123.

TXT-4-21      Amending the Lafreniere Sub Area Plan, a subplan of the Comprehensive Plan as authorized by Council Resolution No. 134658, adopted November 6, 2019. 

TXT-5-21      A text amendment of Chapter 33 Unified Development Code and Chapter 40 Zoning of the Code of Ordinances of the Parish of Jefferson; to create a new Town Center Mixed Use zoning district, and provide for related matters; as authorized by Council Resolution No. 134658 adopted November 6, 2019. 

EZ-11-21       Rezoning of certain lots in the Lafreniere Sub Area Plan area, bounded by the Soniat Canal, Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Judith Street, and West Napoleon Avenue; from the existing zoning districts to the most appropriate zoning or overlay district; and a Future Land Use Map change from the existing FLU to the most appropriate FLU category; in accordance with a zoning and land use study; as authorized by Council Resolution No.134658 adopted November 6, 2019. 

Parish Council Public Hearing 

The amendments to the plan and associated text & map amendments were overwhelmingly approved by the Jefferson Parish Council on June 30, 2021.
