Everyone 12 and older is eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in Louisiana (Pfizer is the only COVID-19 vaccine approved for people ages 12-17).

All COVID-19 vaccines are free and you do not need to provide identification or health insurance information to get vaccinated.

The Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have received emergency use authorization from the FDA. They are safe and effective at preventing illness from COVID-19.

 Transportation Options

Jefferson Parish offers individuals with limited mobility the opportunity to receive a paratransit ride to a vaccine provider or receive a homebound vaccine delivery. To sign up for para-transit services or a homebound vaccine, please call the Jefferson Parish COVID-19 Hotline at 504-518-4020.

Ochsner Medical Center provides free transportation to community vaccination events through Uber. To schedule an appointment at a community site, please contact Ochsner at 855-277-1508. For Spanish, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Mandarin and Arabic, call 833-896-6586.

LCMC Health provides free transportation to some community vaccination events and clinics through Uber. To schedule an appointment, please contact LCMC Health at 504-290-5200.

The White House has partnered with Uber and Lyft to provide free rides to vaccine sites between May 24th and July 4th.

Instruction to use Uber:

  1. After you have booked an appointment at a vaccine provider listed at vaccines.gov and you’re ready to ride to or from your vaccination:
  2. Open the Uber app and tap ‘Vaccine’
  3. Tap ‘Get your free ride’, between 6am and 8pm, through July 4
  4. Enter the zip code of your appointment to find the location you are going to or coming from
  5. Select your provider location and your ride option, free up to $25 each way.

Instruction to use Lyft:

  1. Schedule an appointment or find a walk in vaccine provider.
  2. Go to the Lyft app or website and complete 4 questions, then Lyft will provide you with a code to use for your ride (free up to $15 each way).
  3. Redeem your code only when you are ready to travel as it will only apply to your next 2 Lyft rides.
