JEFFERSON PARISH LAUNCHES COVID COMPLIANCE – SEE IT, SAY IT HOTLINE

Residents Encouraged to Dial 504-736-6929 or Visit www.JeffParish.net

JEFFERSON, LA – Today, Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng announced a new hotline for residents to report businesses who are not complying with Phase Two guidelines. Residents can call the COVID Compliance – See It, Say It hotline at 504-736-6929 or they can access an online form at www.JeffParish.net. This is an anonymous hotline and form, but residents may leave their name and contact information should they wish to do so.

According to Parish President Lee Sheng, “Cases continue to rise in Jefferson Parish. Now more than ever, it is critical that businesses follow guidelines set forth by the CDC and the Louisiana Department of Health in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect their employees and the public. We are dedicated to assisting our business owners with best practices and outreach as we continue to deal with this unprecedented pandemic in our community. We will collect complaints through the COVID Compliance – See It, Say It hotline and we will work with our partner agencies to have them addressed. In addition, we have reassigned our Quality Control staff members to visit reported businesses with best practices materials to facilitate compliance.”

Governor John Bel Edwards extended Phase Two of reopening in Louisiana for another 28 days, as new COVID-19 cases increase across the state, including Jefferson Parish. The new order leaves in place occupancy and other restrictions of the previous Phase Two order and adds a crowd size limit of 250 to indoor gatherings. All businesses and organizations in Jefferson Parish must require that any owner or employee who interacts with the public wear a mask or face covering. The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal handles enforcement. Business and faith leaders can visit OpenSafely.la.gov to receive guidance and updates from the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Louisiana Department of Health. People with general questions about COVID-19 can call 211.
