JEFFERSON PARISH MILLAGE RENEWALS ON DEC. 11TH BALLOT
Early Voting Nov. 27 – Dec. 4, 2021

JEFFERSON, LA – On Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, voters in Jefferson Parish will decide whether to renew two property tax millages on the ballot that directly impact the quality of life for Jefferson Parish residents. These millages have been in place since 2005 and help fund public safety, parks, culture, economic development and senior services in Jefferson Parish. These millages are not new taxes, but renewals at previously authorized rates approved by the Jefferson Parish voters. Items on the Dec. 11, 2021 ballot include:

  • *Voters in all of Jefferson Parish – The first proposition is a 1 mill renewal that will be divided equally between The Jefferson Court and Judicial Service Fund and The Jefferson Community Park and Culture Service Fund
  • *Voters in Unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte – The second proposition is a 2.5 mill renewal that will fund the criminal justice system, cultural and park facilities, business development, and services for the elderly

Voters are encouraged to go to the polls or cast an early vote. Early voting is taking place Saturday, Nov. 27 – Saturday, Dec. 4 (excluding Sunday, Nov. 28) from 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Early voting is conducted by the Jefferson Parish Registrar of Voters Office.

Voters registered in Jefferson Parish may cast an early vote at any of the following locations: the Joseph S. Yenni Building (1221 Elmwood Park Blvd. in Harahan), Charles B. Odom Building (5001 West Bank Expressway in Marrero), the Kenner-Rivertown Registrar of Voters Office (408 Minor St. in Kenner), and the West Bank Regional Library (2751 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey). There will also be one day of in-person early voting for Lafitte, Crown Point and Barataria, which will take place at the Jean Lafitte Auditorium (4953 City Park St., Jean Lafitte, LA 70067) on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Voters can request an absentee ballot online through the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Voter Portal or in writing through the Jefferson Parish Registrar of Voters Office by Dec. 7, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. (other than military and overseas voters). The deadline for the Registrar of Voters to receive an absentee ballot is Dec. 10, 2021 by 4:30 p.m. (other than military and overseas voters).
