JEFFERSON PARISH PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICE RECEIVES
44TH ANNUAL TELLY AWARDS FOR JPTV VIDEOS

JEFFERSON, LA – The Jefferson Parish Public Information Office was named a 2023 recipient for the 44th annual Telly Awards, the world’s largest honor for video and television across all screens. Jefferson Parish received a Silver Award for a video about the water tower restorations, and a Bronze Award for the D&I Black History Month video series.

The 44th annual Telly Awards had a record-breaking number of entries, boasting nearly 13,000 entries from across the globe, the most in a decade. Submissions came in from the US, Middle East, UK and Canada, as well as strong entries from Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and as widespread as Afghanistan, Sweden, New Zealand, Jamaica, and South Africa. Jefferson Parish was listed among winners from global brands and companies, including Netflix, Disney Parks, Paramount and National Geographic Society.

According to Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, “These awards represent a significant achievement by our Jefferson Parish Public Information Office. I am so proud of our PIO team, led by Director Gretchen Hirt, for receiving this honor and continuing to take our Jefferson Parish video content to the next level. Deputy PIO Justin Castille and Information Specialist Neil Giurintano created these two winning videos that help promote our work – from highlighting updates to our water infrastructure, to celebrating and honoring our diversity – we have a lot to be proud of in Jefferson Parish.”

Water Department Director Sidney Bazley explains how the towers are inspected for rust and other damage before being recoated with specially treated paint.
