MASK MANDATE LIFTED FOR ENTRY INTO JEFFERSON PARISH GENERAL GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS
Those who are fully vaccinated no longer need to wear masks except in certain situations

JEFFERSON, LA - Consistent with Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards’ new order in consultation with the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), and recent CDC guidelines, the mask mandate to enter Jefferson Parish General Government Buildings will be lifted for those who are fully vaccinated. This includes the Joseph S. Yenni Building, the General Government Building, Charles Odom Building, Jefferson Parish Credit Union, Jefferson Parish libraries, JPRD facilities, the Alario Center and the Jefferson Performing Arts Center (JPAS).

Those who are fully vaccinated no longer have to wear masks indoors except in certain situations including: educational facilities, public transit, correctional settings and health care facilities as regulated by LDH. This is in addition to recent guidance that also eased restrictions on masks outdoors for those who are fully vaccinated.

This announcement follows recent guidance issued by the CDC that says anyone who is fully vaccinated can participate in indoor and outdoor activities - large or small - without wearing a mask or physically distancing. According to the CDC and LDH, the medical research is clear and those who are fully vaccinated can start doing the things that they stopped doing because of the pandemic.

Individual businesses have the right to require masks. Individuals who are not yet vaccinated should continue to social distance and wear masks. The COVID-19 vaccine is the best form of protection and it is recommended that all residents over the age of 12 get vaccinated.
