MASK MANDATE LIFTED IN JEFFERSON PARISH
Masks still required to enter all Jefferson Parish General Government Buildings

JEFFERSON, LA – Consistent with Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards’ new order, the mask mandate in Jefferson Parish will be lifted starting on Wednesday, April 28, 2021; however masks will still be required on public transit, in K-12 schools, colleges, universities and health care facilities. The updated proclamation will be in effect for the next 28 days.

Since many state government buildings will maintain a mask mandate, all will be required to wear masks when entering and in common areas of Jefferson Parish General Government Buildings as well. This includes the Joseph S. Yenni Building, the General Government Building, Charles Odom Building, Jefferson Parish Credit Union, Jefferson Parish libraries, JPRD facilities and Courts (1st Parish, 2nd Parish, 24th and Juvenile).

While the mask mandate in Jefferson Parish is being lifted for many settings, the CDC still recommends that all people wear masks in indoor settings and in large outdoor crowds. Individual businesses have the right to require masks. Individuals who are not yet vaccinated should continue to social distance and wear masks. The COVID-19 vaccine is the best form of protection and it is recommended that all residents over the age of 16 get vaccinated.
