The Jefferson Parish Community Actions Programs (JeffCAP) is seeking persons or firms interested in providing early childcare education services for the Jefferson Community Actions’ Head Start Birth-to-Five Program.

On Saturday, September 30, 2023, the Jefferson Parish Library will debut its newest Beyond Books initiative, Experience Passes, in conjunction with the launch of the next library branch to take part in Library of Things.

LANE CLOSURE: METAIRIE ROAD BETWEEN BONNABEL BOULEVARD AND ORPHEUM AVENUE

Starting Monday, September 18, 2023, there will be intermittent and alternating lane closures of Metairie Road between Bonnabel Boulevard and Orpheum Avenue daily from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

NEW ORLEANS MUSEUM OF ART CURATOR TO SPEAK ABOUT FASHION AT FRIENDS OF THE JEFFERSON PUBLIC LIBRARY QUARTERLY MEETING

Mel Buchanan, the RosaMary Curator of Decorative Arts at the New Orleans Museum of Arts, will present “Fashioning America: Grit to Glamour,” at the quarterly meeting of the Friends of the Jefferson Public Library, at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Ave., Metairie.

LANE CLOSURE: EASTBOUND WEST METAIRIE AVENUE

Starting Monday, September 11, 2023 at 9 a.m., the right lane of eastbound West Metairie Avenue between Market Street and David Drive will be closed continuously.

PONTIFF PLAYGROUND CLOSED DUE TO DOWNED POWER LINE AT ENTRANCE

Pontiff Playground is now closed due to a downed power line at the main gate entrance to the park. Entergy has been notified and is working on a repair. All are advised to avoid the area until further notice.

AUTHOR TO DISCUSS NEW BOOK WHICH FOCUSES ON THE ALBUMS THAT INTRODUCED THE BEATLES TO THE WORLD

Bruce Spizer, an internationally known expert on the Beatles and New Orleans native, will discuss the newest book in his series on the legendary band, Please, Please Me and With the Beatles, at 7 p.m., Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Ave., Metairie.

JEFFERSON PARISH OFFICES CLOSED ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2023 IN OBSERVANCE OF LABOR DAY

All Jefferson Parish Government offices, including Jefferson Parish Protection & Animal Welfare Services (JPAWS) and the East and West Jefferson American Job Centers, will be closed on Monday, Sep. 4, 2023, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

Kathryn Martin, a librarian at the East Bank Regional Library, will lead a new book club titled “Forever Youngish” geared for adults who want to read Young Adult fiction.
