CHRISTMAS TREE RECYCLING GUIDELINES

Residents in Unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte should place trees curbside on the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023. Christmas trees will be collected curbside on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, Friday, Jan. 13, 2023 and Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023.
Trees must meet the following guidelines in order to be recycled:

  • No flocked trees
  • No artificial trees
  • No painted trees
  • No lights, garland, tinsel, ornaments, tree stands and plastic bags.
TreeCycling

Each year thousands of Christmas trees are donated by Jefferson Parish residents and diverted from landfills and placed in the Barataria Basin by volunteers. These recycled trees are used to build wave dampening fences, located directly off the shore, which help reduce coastal erosion and provide critical habitat for wildlife.
